MiChS Column Reactor C-1a, C-1p (catalyst-packed column)

Flow reactors are ideal for catalytic reactions.
In particular, heterogeneous catalysis does not require separation of product and catalyst.
In addition, because of the high surface area of ​​the catalyst, higher efficiency can be expected compared to a batch system.
MiChS sells reactors packed with high-performance immobilized catalysts.
MiChS's flow reaction column reactor enables acid catalyzed reactions under heating conditions to be carried out without the formation of acid (C-1a).
Also, highly efficient hydroreduction reaction can be carried out in a flow system (C-1p).
In addition, MiChS also sells an adapter unit (C-1-AD), which uses a hot plate instead of an oil bath to heat the column reactor. This unit comes with a tube unit for preheating before introducing the fluid.

Recently, joint research between Osaka Prefecture University and Osaka University has enabled to carry out efficient flow synthesis of natural compound Pristane using these two catalyst column reactors.
The by-product of this reaction is water only, thus the process is "green".
